About JJDoodlescapes

A sketch of the artist

Hello! Thanks for visiting!

My name is James Jack and I’m the creator, designer and artist of Tangle Gully. I’m a traditional ink and pencil artist based in the UK.

I’ve always loved fairy tales, legends and myths. As an artist I’m never happier than when I’m drawing fantasy creatures and places, creating stories and designing monsters! I get a lot of my inspiration from the natural world all around me, especially the beautiful fields and forests of the south of England where I grew up.

If you’d like to get in touch, please Email me at jjdoodlescapes@outlook.com

And, if you’d like to support me and bring a little of Tangle Gully into your own home, please check out my store here on the site!

We are constantly designing and developing new cool stuff that we hope you will enjoy!

Yes, ‘‘WE’’ are! While Tangle Gully is my own creation, I am assisted in various ways by my partner Ching Ying Lee.

As an artist herself, Ching offers me excellent advice and critical feedback whenever I draw something new. She also has a better understanding of computers than me so if a picture ever needs a digital tidy up or a copy made, she is usually the one to do it.

In addition to this, Ching is a skilled painter and has produced watercolour versions of some of my pictures. A great example of this is on the cover of my new book ‘‘The Best Glade in Tangle Gully’’.

Thanks to her support, Tangle Gully is growing even bigger!

If you’d like to see the art and products for yourself, and if you’re curious to meet us and have a chat, check the main page of this website. There is a news bar at the top that will display when and where we will be exhibiting next so if you’re in the area, please come pay us a visit!

FAQ

  • I am planning to offer personalised Tangles in the future. I'm also considering creating a D&D inspired range that may include custom character portraits on request.

Please contact us at JJdoodlescapes@outlook.com if you have a more specific question.

  • We don’t offer that as a service right now but if you do have a request you’d like to enquire about, please Email JJDoodlescapes@outlook.com and we’ll happily discuss it with you.

  • Everything is sketched and drawn in Pen ink. Then I colour them with colouring pencils!

There are currently two pictures in our gallery that are beautifully painted in watercolours by my partner, Bee!

I can also colour digitally but I do that very infrequently. At the moment only our logo and one of our badges (Loghead) is digital.
